JOB
PURPOSE
To initiate, co-ordinate
and support all club development activity across the country in accordance with
the BaseballSoftballUK Whole Sport Plan, Club and Coach development plan and
Club Accreditation plans.
THE
JOB
In this role, you will be
responsibility for the design and implementation of a BSUK Club Accreditation
Scheme, for baseball and softball clubs and or leagues as appropriate, in
accordance with Sport England Club Mark and County Sports Partnership local
club accreditation standards.
You will be responsible
for setting up a criteria and evidence based scheme, club accreditation support
mechanisms and quality assurance procedures for assessment of clubs working towards
accreditation. In addition, you will
need to establish incentive packages for clubs and leagues who achieve
accreditation and monitoring of the maintenance of post-accreditation
standards.
Your key responsibilities
will also include setting baseline criteria for clubs or leagues wishing to
register as ‘working towards’ the Club Accreditation standard and inspecting
the required evidence for registration on the scheme. The planning of new or identification of existing workshops and
courses within the regions to enable teams and clubs to gain the knowledge and
expertise required by the standard will also fall into your area of
responsibility.
Your other
responsibilities include providing technical and general articles for BSUK
media as requested, incorporating Equity and Child Protection into development
delivery and ensuring relevant actions and targets are met.
THE
PERSON
As well as the more
formal skills and experiences detailed on the Person Specification below, you
will need to be an outgoing, presentable baseball and/or softball
enthusiast. You will have or will
quickly develop a positive attitude to ‘multi-tasking’ as you will be
constantly juggling a varied workload.
A ‘self starter’ who can handle a heavy work programme with set targets
to achieve, you will need to be committed to working long hours including many
evenings and some weekends.
The role is challenging
and demanding - a lot will be expected of you by the baseball and softball community and BSUK.
EMPLOYMENT
DETAILS
Fixed term contract from
October 2007 to 31 March 2010.
Salary £21.5k -
£23.3k p.a.
Arrangements for a base
will be negotiated individually. You
will be expected to work across the country and to contribute to national
events.
You will be responsible to
the Head of Development and as a key member of the Development team, work with
the National Development Manager,s, Regional Development Officers and
Coaches-in-Residence. You will work
with a variety of staff and volunteers in our organisation, the British
Baseball and Softball Federations and partners, specifically in relation to
club development.

BaseballSoftballUK is the development agency for
baseball and softball in the UK, working on the promotion and development of
the two sports. We are a small organisation with fifteen full-time employees
and a friendly working environment.
BaseballSoftballUK is
primarily funded by Sport England.
