Black Friday for Softball

Singapore, July 8, 2005 - softball and baseball were only sports out of 28 voted off by members of International Olympic Committee for programme of the games in 2012 in London, Great Britain.

This means that these two sports will not be in London, but remain olympic sports and will be evaluated again with other 26 summer sports after Beijing 2008. According new policy IOC will examine and vote about all 28 sports every four years to be in the programme of Olympic Games. However, it will not be easy to get back once the sport is already out of the programme.

Members of IOC voted also for new sports to fill in afterwards, but none out of five sports (Karate, Squash, Golf, Rugby and Roller Sports) has got enough votes either to fill in just in London (simple majority) or became a new olympic sport (2/3 of the votes).
