Mary Wieder, left handed batting catcher
from Lehigh University (US) wants to play in Europe.
I recently spoke to Fleur Edgerton who coaches a softball team in France about
playing softball in Europe this summer. She recommended that I talk to you
since you are in charge of the European Softball Federation
Just a background on myself, I graduated from Lehigh University in the States
in May 2006. I am currently a marketing manager for a company in Pennsylvania.
At Lehigh, I was the starting catcher for 4 years on the varsity softball
team. I played in the Patriot League and I have been named the Patriot League
First Team, a First-Team All-American and tournament MVP. Our team has played
in the NCAA tournament and we defeated #13 Texas A&M last spring. I have
faced Olympic pitchers including Alicia Hollowel from the University of
Arizona. I am a left handed batter and right handed thrower.
In terms of your club, this is fastpitch softball correct? And you play with a
regulation softball? I am interested in hearing more about your league. Are
there any benefits to being a player, i.e. lodging food expenses, etc? If I
were to play softball in Europe, and housing were not supplied, I would need
ample time to find accomodations. But most of all, how do I best find a team
to play on??
Thanks for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Mary Wieder
